Marketing & Community Content Assistant (Part-Time)

Location: Clifton, NJ and surrounding areas (Hybrid)

Hours: 5–10 hours per week (with potential to grow)

Pay: $25–30/hour

About The Refill House

The Refill House is a New Jersey-based refill business on a mission to make sustainable living more accessible, practical, and welcoming for everyone.

We provide refills for household and personal care products, curate low-waste alternatives, partner with local organizations, and create educational opportunities that help people reduce waste without judgment or perfection.

We're looking for someone who shares our passion for community, creativity, and environmental sustainability and wants to help grow a business that's making a positive impact.

About the Role

This isn't a traditional social media job.

We're looking for someone who can help transform ideas, stories, and community experiences into engaging content that inspires people to live more sustainably.

You'll work directly with the owner to bring campaigns, events, workshops, and everyday moments to life through digital content.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys storytelling, marketing, photography, design, and sustainability.

What You'll Do

Content Creation

  • Design graphics using Canva or other preferred platforms

  • Create Instagram and Facebook posts

  • Create and edit short-form videos and Reels

  • Create Stories and other engaging content

  • Repurpose one idea into multiple pieces of content

  • Maintain a consistent posting schedule

Marketing Support

  • Design flyers, signs, and event materials

  • Update website graphics and content as needed

  • Help plan and execute seasonal marketing campaigns

Community Storytelling

Occasionally attend farmers markets or community events to:

  • Capture photos and videos

  • Interview customers (with permission)

  • Highlight local partnerships

  • Show behind the scenes work

  • Showcase products and refill experiences

  • Tell authentic stories from the community

Creative Collaboration

You'll work closely with the owner to brainstorm ideas, plan campaigns, and continuously improve our marketing.

We value creativity and initiative, and we'd love someone who enjoys contributing new ideas.

We're Looking For Someone Who

  • Enjoys writing and storytelling

  • Has experience with Canva

  • Can create and edit short-form videos

  • Understands Instagram and Facebook

  • Knows Instagram and Facebook trends

  • Is organized and reliable

  • Communicates well

  • Is self-motivated

  • Has an eye for clean, modern design

  • Is excited about sustainability and community impact

Experience with photography or email marketing is a plus, but not required.

Bonus Points If You

  • Live in northern New Jersey

  • Have an interest in sustainability, environmental education, communications, or marketing

  • Enjoy attending community events

  • Have experience creating engaging social media content

  • Love supporting small businesses
